Pre-Ban or not?

Is there a site somewhere with build dates for Norinco SKS based on serial numbers?

I just want to know if its provable that this gun was made prior to the 94 fed ban.

I doubt it, but if you're Stateside and have it in you're hand it has to be pre-ban. Slick Willy stopped all importation of Chinese made rifles. No more have been imported.

no good importation records were really kept!!! if it is russian, they were only made from 1949 to 1955, it is diffently PRE-BAN. if it is chinese, you can pretty much go by , either the time of importation, or if it has a bayonet lug still intact on the weapon!!!! HARD TO SAY!!!!contact BATF on chinese!!!!

The term "pre-ban" does not apply to the SKS, as manufactured; this rifle is NOT classified by federal law as a "semi automatic assault weapon".

GCA of 1968 governs importation of SKS and NO Norinco can have a bayonet or folding stock...
