Kimber M98 ? ?
Stopped @ local gun dealer yesterday. Looked at a 22-250 w/box made by Kimber. My memory may be fading, however, the rifle had some other stamping which read Mauser 98 sporter by BRNO? Is this a true Kimber or is it some kind of hybred? I was thinking of upgrading my Savage 22-250. Any advise or info. please??

I not sure how relevant this is to the rifle you saw? but there have been (3) companies trading under the Kimber name in the last 20 years.
The second, "Kimber of America", "circa early 1990's", sold many sporterized Swede Model 96 Long Rifles under their name. They MIGHT have sold some Czech Mauser imports as well?

Thanks very much for your reply. Called my dealer & he corrected me on the rifle ID. (My eyes aren't so good I guess.) He says that this rifle has a Swede Mauser 96 action by BRNO. If I understand this, I believe your reply hit the nail on this ID. Thanks again. 0 -

Either your dealer has led you astray, or the receiver on that rifle is super rare. To the best of my knowledge, the only two manufacturers of those Swede 96 Mausers were, Waffenfabrik Mauser in Oberndorf Germany and the Carl Gustaf Military Arsenal in Sweden.0 -
If you check the auction site you will find a number of Burno made sporter rifles out there. These are surplus sporter converted Burno receivers and are currently available in the USA. A number of years ago there was a batch of both M96 and M98 Kimber sporters out there, built on an assortment of surplus receivers. I haven't seen any of the Kimbers available for some time now. 0
