value of Marlin 97
i have a marlin 97 in .22lr, it is in really good condition, with no scratches on the wood and no rust at all, the finish is almost all gone since i took a bottle of brasso to it in the 4th grade. the bore is shiny and perfect, anybody know how much its worth?

bingeebob,
Hi. I am not very good at knowing gun values, so I consult the "Blue Book" to get me in the value range. Many of the real experts here know details that aren't in the Blue Book. Condition has everything to do with values also.
When you say the finish is almost gone since brasso was used on it, I assume you mean the metal finish or bluing and not the wood finish. It is a shame that this happened. Ahh - the sins of youth. If this is the case, I would rate the rifles at no more than 60% finish, which would mean the rifles would be worth approximately $235.00, while one in 100% condition would be worth $625.00.
