THIS IS MY FIRST POSTING, SO BE KIND. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A DAN WESSON 44 MAGNUM. IT IS A "FIXED BARREL" GUN WITH A TWO INCH BARREL, SERIAL NUMBER SD100XX. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ON THIS GUN. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE FIXED BARRELED GUNS WERE ONLY MADE IN 1994 AS AN ATTEMPT TO BE MORE COMPETITIVE WITH S&W AND TAURUS. IT DID NOT WORK. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DAN WESSON SITE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I CANNOT GET INFORMATION FROM THEM ON THIS GUN BECAUSE WHEN DAN WESSON SOLD IN 1996 ALL PREVIOUS SERIAL NUMBER RECORDS WERE TURNED OVER TO THE BATF. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS APPROXIMATELY HOW MANY FIXED BARRELED GUNS WERE PRODUCED. ALSO, VALUE OF THE GUN. IT IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION. IT HAS THE FACTORY BOX, BUT THE BOX WAS ORIGINALLY MADE FOR THE INTERCHANGEABLE BARRELED GUNS AND HAS BEEN MARKED 2" FIXED BARREL WITH A SHARPIE. LOW SERIAL NUMBER THOUGH. I WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING FROM OTHERS WGO HAVE THE FIXED BARREL GUNS.....THANKS

    Hi,
    I have a Dan Wesson 1 of 250 made to introduce the 44mag to the Dan Wesson line of guns. It's serial # is less than 1/2 or the 250 made. It's never been fired and looks brand new. It has a 6" ribbed barrel, is made of stainless steel and has all the paperwork including the cert of authenticity. I have the box and the presentation case it came in. It's all new. The gun came with light etching.
    Any help will be greatly appreaciated.
    Are there any books out their for DW collectors?

    Hi, I have one very similar
    I'm not sure if it is one of 250 . But it is numbered less than 150.
    I have asked for info also. Its hard to come by since DW has gone out of business at least once , and the business no longer has records of the preveious guns. I dont think they are worth much, but mine shoots pretty good.
    I need to send mine back for repairs I'll see If they have any info

    I would differ with Kc on the note of a Dan wesson not being worth much, as there is a sort of cult following who do appreciate them. They were somewhat more legendary for their highly accurate .357's and the pistol packs of gun and interchangeable barrels. They also made some of the first big magnums in the "super" race, ie the .414
    and .445 Supermag. I think the last count is three times that they have reorganized and they still make large frame revolvers as well as a nice looking 1911 clone. If yours is marked as "Dan Wesson Firearms", it should have been made in or after 2002. 100% $685,
    98% $610, 95% %535. I couldn't find anything about "1 of 250" series, not to say it doesn't exist or have a further value. If marked Wesson Firearms, it would depend on if the address is Palmer, Mass. (1992-95) or Monson, Mass. (up until 1992). Palmer address was an ownership change in the family, (the son if I remember). The latest is the first above address of New York International Corp.(NYI)
    of Norwich, NY beginning 1997. If it has the Palmer or Monson address, It could either be a 744V @100% $430, a744V Target (fixed barrel @ $410 or a 744V Commemorative @$595
