Importing Guns to America from Australia

Howdy all I a newbie to your forum and sure like what I see here. I am a Australian Citizen and have been living in California for the last few years and would like to import my under and over 12 g shotguns. Is there any service that I can use that does the whole darn thing for me or do you just have to fight the red tape on your own?
Any advise would be appreciated except returning to Australia as they have already cancelled my 35 year old firearms licence without betting a eyelid

And yes I will be taking out US citizenship now that I can have dual citizenships

    I'm sure that there is a way to do it, and am a bit surprised that the Aussie government hasn't already confiscated your "terrible weapons."

    I would check with both BATFE and Customs to find out what paperwork is necessary to get your valuables shipped here. I am certain that upon entry into the USofA that they would have to be moved to a person/business that holds a current Federal Firearms License and then "transferred" back to you, after you pass a NICS background check.

    I am certain that there are others here who can answer your question in more detail...say like Mark Christian?

    gunbroker has a section i think it was under find an ffl dealer and i do recall seeing a company in tennesee or kentucky that would import for a $250.00 fee then you would have to have them sent to california and also pay tranfer fees there unless you can find an importer in cali who will take care of the red tape for you

    the thing that scares me is that we could be living in someone else's own reality

    I've got a permit to export firearms from Oz. It also requires Customs permits and Police registration. Contact me for more details, and I can get it to you, through an importer in the USA.

    Sorry, forgot to tell you; unless it's pretty special, you would be better off selling it and buying the same in USA as you will find them there cheaper, and you won't do the paperwork-time tango.

    Try WWW.BDLLTD.COM - he is a liscensed import/export dealer and has delt with Canada and I believe Australia

    Check out the ATF web site, download the ATF form 6, get it approved for importation, then contact a broker in Australia and get an export permit. Went thru this with wife's guns from Canada. Takes a while to do it yourself but it can be done.
