FN Auto 5 Sweet Sixteen

My dad passed on an FN Auto 5 Sweet Sixteen shotgun. It was given to him by a friend who served in WWII. The guy had taken it after helping liberate a German POW camp. The wood forestock has a crack in it. I take it is Belgium made because of the writing on it. Any idea of what it might be worth. FYI, my uncle added some kind of select compensator onto the barrel. I know this will detract from the value. Thanks for any help.

  Wrangler, If the story that came with the Browning 16 ga. auto 5 is true, you don't have a Sweet Sixteen. The Sweet Sixteen went into production in 1950. It is most likely a standard weight 16 ga. If it is prewar manufacture it may be chambered for the 2 9/16" shells. Check the marking on the barrel before trying to fire it.

  I stand corrected on the date Sweet Sixteens went into production. I was looking for info in a 1999 Blue Book and all I could find about the Sweet Sixteen said it was made by FN from 1950 until 1972.
  Sorry to have contributed to the misinformation deluge.
