R.F.Sedgley 30/06 Mauser 98?
My father may have asked about this rifle a while back but I can not find it so here it goes again. We have found a rifle for sale and it is a 98 mauser action 30/06. It is marked R.F. Sedgley. Now I am aware of Sedgley and his love for the 1903 Springfield,But I have not been able to find anything on a Mauser. The rifle has his trademark Lyman peep but it also has double set triggers a european style floorplate release and A horn forend and grip cap.It is in excellent shape I would give it a 95 to 97%. Any sugesstions on a fair value or history would be real handy. Thanks

Hello SEDGLEY was one of the custom builders I think located in PHIL.PA. he did work on many kinds of rifles and even made 22 conversion unit for 22 in a COLT 1911 quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN" 0 -
According to my references, Sedgley was in business in Philadelphia as early as 1912. He made Flare Pistols, Baby Hammerless Revolvers and customized many military rifles, primarily Krags & Springfields.
As many of his rifles were custom order pieces it would be quite difficult to place a value on one, with out a hands-on inspection by knowledgeable dealer or collector.
