Winchester 1894 - My Grand fathers Winchester 1894 serial #1996XX was sent in to the Winchester company and converted into a 30-30 from a 38-55 several years ago. What would it take to convert it back? 0 -
Hello Rob...
It was manufactured circa 1923-1925. It sounds like it was a well used & carried gun, and ther is nothing wrong with that fact. The tang sight mounting hole was factory drilled (Winchester factory drilled all of the various lever action models for tangs sights back in those days). You are correct in that rebluing it would be a BIG mistake. All I can provide is a rough estimate of the value (without actually seeing it), and as such, it is most likely in the $500 area.

Bert,
Thanks for the info, and the welcome.
I'm still figuring out the process here. Maybe you can tell me how delete a posting when I find that I've inadvertently double posted. I don't want to be rude and take up needless space.
Thanks again,
Rob
