H&R Cavalry 1873 Value
I saw this one for sale today in a local pawn shop. It's a "Springfield Trapdoor" replica, an H&R Cavalry Model of 1873. Blue metal, some engraving, fold down ladder peep sight out on barrel, no tang sight,plain walnut stock, no provision for ramrod. 45-70 caliber of course. It looks almost like new. What would be a fair price. Thanks for and advice on this one, I've never seen one before.

Is this the OFFICERS MODEL Carbine with the Checkered Pistol Grip? Or the Standard Trapdoor Rifle....Need Just a Tad More info...Can You give a better Discription....Tnx......

It's the Deluxe Model #171 Cavalry Carbine. No checkering. Very plain, has case hardened curved metal buttplate. The only thing that appears "extra" is a ladder type folding peep sight on the barrel and some simple scroll engraving on some of the blued parts (lock sideplate, hammer, etc.)Barrel is round and 22 inches.
