    Stevens made guns were marked "J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co." up to 1916. In 1920 Savage bought out Stevens, and the marking was changed to "J. Stevens Arms Co.". In the late 1940s the "J." was dropped and "Stevens Arms Company" was used. Consequently, your shotgun was manufactured sometime in or after the late 1940s. Stevens/Savage made a vast array of different shotgun models, and unless you can post pictures of it, I doubt we can identify which specific one you have. Value for most of those old single shot scatterguns is somewhere in $50 - $100 range (some people quote them at $35, but that is only if you are trying to sell it to a dealer).
