Refinishing/Covering makers name??

I have a legal question about refinishing guns and covering the name on the gun. I have a couple of guns that have the manufactures name printed on the side instead of stamped. When you rub your fingers over the lettering you cannot feel anything. When I refinish the guns that name will be coverd-up. The serial numbers are stamped so that is not an issue, but what about the manufactures name?

  Hello Mooseyard...
  
  I am not aware of any regulations concerning the requirement for a manufacturers name. If there was a problem with removing it, MANY firearms could not be legally rebarreled, and I know that is not the case.

  I forgot, these are NFA items, I believe that the manufactures name is required.
