I have a new Golden boy and I really love it what a beautiful rifle! I do have one problem though perhaps someone can help. Ocasionaly when I release the hammer to half cock, it catches before it reaches half cock, and any slight movement to the trigger sends the hammer the rest of the way down. Im thinking this is not a real safe situation.

You are right, they are not near as good as the 9422. The receiver is made out of brasslite alloy and alot of the inerds are plastic/nylon. I won one from the NRA and after getting it I was so dissappointed I got rid of it without even shooting it.

He got rid of it without ever shooting it??? I have one and it shoots as great as it looks. Extremely smooth action. Buy it, you'll like it.

    Hope this helps.

I'm with cliffdropover1, I bought one when they first came out, and I love it. It is a great shooter, action as smooth as silk, and really fun to shoot. Especially if you have small children that you want to introduce to the shooting sports. It makes a great starter gun for a young person to start out with.
And of course it does not compare to the 9422, why would you expect it to? It is a replica! And I am betting that it will be around for a long time. I really enjoy mine, as do my children.

No I did not shoot it. When compaired to my Marlin 39AS it looked and felt CHEAP. I will agree the action was smooth but that is as far as I can go. I have friends that have Golden Boys and my 39 will outshoot (in my hands or theirs) the others with no problems compaired to the occassional misfeed in the Golden Boys. I AM GLAD I GOT RID OF IT NIB COMPAIRED TO USED!!!

I don't own one, but I have read reviews stating that this rifle has one of the smoothest actions available.

As long as it looks good, shoots straight, functions properly, what more could you ask?

    Just an opinion.

The few I have known seem to like them fine, not sure on the ultimate accuracy, know of one instance of the gun jamming. He bought from Wally World and tho I think he could have exchanged it for a new one or had the factory fix it, he put it on a community auction and got $15 more than he paid for it on sale.

The Golden Boy is an excellent gun for the price. Smooth action and great look. If comparing to 39A or 9422 then these two are a step up in quality and fit but also in price. Henry has gotton better with their fit and finish and they also have excellent service. If price matters buy the Henry and dont look back.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?
