Hays, try Vintage Sporting Arms & Accessories, Huntsville, Alabama--Phone 256-534-8383. They have the 16 gauge barrels from time to time. The short barrel that you are looking for is easier to find than the longer barrels. I have my fathers 16 Belgian made but it has a 25" with polychike on it. I have been looking for a 27 or 28 inch barrel(belgian made) for over 6 years now. Hope you find what your looking for. Jim

    Hello Hays,

Are there any letters that precede the serial number, or a two-digit (number & letter) just above the number give mention? If not, then it was manufactured in 1926 according to Browning.

I do not know if anyone is currently making replacement barrels for the A-5 shotgun, but it would not surprise me if somebody does. Fonding an original barrel will not be easy though.

I have a 1951 Sweet Sixteen and a 1933 Std.16 both with their orginal belgium barrels. I have a 28" japanese Invector changeable choke barrel that will handle steel shot and works with both receivers. I would look for a japanese 16ga invector barrel on the auction sites and use that for hunting and keep the orginal barrel for show.
