Ruger M77 difference between MI and MII

I redcently purchased a M77 MII rifle and was curious as to what the difference was between the MI and MII rifles.

  Others here will can give a more complete answer, but I think that it basicly is that the MKI was a push feed system where the MKII is a controled round feed. Also the MKI had a tang safety where the MKII has a 3 position winchester M70 style safety.

  The MkI extractor snaps over the cartrideg rim after being completely seated in the chamber. The MkII is completely CRF. The 3 position safety on the MkII.

  I may be wrong,but I think the MKII were stainless with the swing saftey.

  I have been told that the older Ruger's trigger was easily adjusted but that the MKII's were not adjustable.

  To my knowledge, none of the tang safety 77's had adjustable triggers, hence the spike in sales of Timney trigger conversions (I have one and had to get rid of that lousy Ruger trigger). Some of the Mk 11 triggers have three adjustments on them--- the varmit variants.

  the tang safety models DID have adjustable triggers and the MK II do not (competent gunsmith can do it). The $64 for the timney trigger for the MK II is a fair price for the upgrade. I have a MK II but have not installed the trigger yet as the factory trigger is acceptable for a hunting rifle.
  
  My brother-in-law has a tang safety model and his trigger has been set down to ~2lbs,..very nice trigger and a good shooter too.
  
  Both are good rifles,..but bear in mind that rugers have an affinity for being finicky. The 3 action screws have to be tightened in the correct order and to the correct pressures to really get them shooting to the best of their ability.
  
  1 front action screw very tight
  2 rear action screw slightly less tight but still quite tight
  3 middle action screw only enough to keep it from backing out. (do not overtighten this screw or group size will grow considerably)
  
  tighten in that order.
  
  why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
