Witness
I've got a EEA Witness 40 s&w Full Size. The owners paper says do not use +P ammo. I have changed the Barrel and spring to a 5.25 Red Dragon Barrel and red dragon dual buffer spring. Would it be safe to shoot with these additions? I am assumming that the reason for no +P ammo is barrel pressure but really not sure. Thank You

I would hazard the guess that that caveat is there for the litigious society we are living in! I would guess that you would be ok with the changes you made but understand that you have released all claims of liability by doing it! In my opinion...you're ok. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you get a 10mm? That would have mooted the whole 40 S&W +P thing anyway?!?!

I second the 10mm question... Another idea is they sell conversions to that caliber. However, if you're determined to stick with the .40 then I'd check out Doubletapammo.com. He's been making hot (but within specs - not +p) 10mm ammo for years but just started selling .40 ammo. I'd be suprised if you'll find anything out there that'll touch it. He's a great guy to do business with and his chrono specs are accurate from what EVERYONE with a chrono that has tested his loads has said... 0 -
I definatly would go with a 10mm instead of the 40 S&W. I have both the witness compact and full size in 10mm and they do everything you could ask for. My 2 cents [8D]

I 4th that motion. And notice that when reading my manual for my witness that there is a part about reloading for the gun. Never saw that before, the section as I recall recommends that reloaders stay with normal levels for the cartridge.
I think you would be ok to fire some +p rounds out of that gun. I wouldn't over do it though. A few here and there would be fine.

It's not really a hazard to shoot +Ps out of such a weapon, but it will bang up the gun, and hasten its aging. Most modern name-brand pistols can handle +P ammo. It's the +P+, that has no real standard loading to it, and can therefore be far beyond any design specs, that you have to watch out for.

Well If I had researched it more I would have bought a 10 mm. But the way I was thinking this was convertable to a 10. I have since found out the differance between a 40 and a 45 frame. I will probably get a 10 but for now have to use what I have. It is a nice gun and a limited edition Thanks for all the good info.0 -

These guns shoot pretty good. I think you'll be happy with your 40.
