Handgun Purchase/Ownership/Operation NV

Hi,

I'm considering purchasing a handgun for sport/security. Based on what I have read it is legal to purchase/own/operate a handgun in Nevada when you are 18. However, you cannot obtain a conceal carry permit until 21. Is this correct? If so, I assume that it is fine to go purchase a handgun and carry it in a case to your home and transport it in your vehicle (in the case) to whatever place you want to use it (ie a range). I am 20 yrs old so I would like to get everything cleared up before I continue...just in case my observations are incorrect.

    Unfortunately, it doesn't help. I know you must be 21 to have a CCP BUT from my interpretation you don't have to have a CCP to own/carry/operate a handgun, which means you only have to be 18 to purchase a handgun. Is this correct? Incorrect?

    barring any state laws to the contrary, you can purchase a handgun from a private individual, but not a retailer. Federal law only requires you to be 18 to posess a handgun.
