Watson Bros. 28 Gauge
I have a Watson Bros. 28 gauge shotgun that was given to me by my Grandfather. He acquired the weapon in London in the mid 70's and was told that it was made for a Middle eastern dignitary circa 1939. The gun seems to be of the finest quality. I do not know what the weapon is worth or wear to have it accurately appraised. Can someone please offer an opinion. Thank you.

thanx for the photos. if you want a good opinion of value need the weight of gun, is it an ejector gun or not, what do the proofs say re: shell legnth ie 2 1/2" shells or 2 3/4" shells. proofs are on the bottom of the barrels under the chambers.
It looks like a 20 gauge, box lock frame and not one of the sought-after small Watson Bros frames that WB were so famous for. Its an Ansey & Deeson design with no "third bite" which is common to this type frame. The stock is Prince of Wales style and very good figure. Lop is important to know but it looks like 13-14 inches which is good. An ejector gun is much more desireable and enhances the value considerably. If I get more details I can go on more.

It is an ejector (if that means shells pop out once fired and barrels are broken back open). It is a 28 gauge. Believe shell length is 2 and 1/2, but will have to look again this afternoon to be sure. The gun seems small compared with other doubles. 0 -
a small frame 28 ga gun should weigh in at 5 lbs or less, more like 4 1/2 lbs. stand on a bathroom scale with and without the gun. not scientific but better than nothing. a postal scale works too. a 2 1/2" proof reduces value since ammo for that chamber is very costly compared with modern 2 3/4" shells. chokes and barrel legnth is important. chokes are marked with the proofs. usually that is. otherwise a choke guage will be required. original barrels are a very important part of value as opposed to sleeved barrels. Cant tell from your photos.
