'Pre 64 Win Help please

I need an extractor for my .270 Win. My local gunsmith says it is a difficult part to find. (implying expensive).
Is he right?
How much should I expect to pay?

    Welcome to the forum Top! I just checked the "Gunparts Inc" thier price is about $38.00 for a used one and they are sold out.
    So I checked Wisner and he has new ones for $55.75

    If you buy the part and take it to your Gunsmith it will be cheaper. If he buys it, expect the part to cost $10-20 bucks more.

    You're going to have to do some searching and calling or e-mailing to get current availability of Pre-'64 parts. Some folks list them but don't have any stock at the time. Here are some contacts for original parts:

    Pretty sure I have a pre-64 extractor. Price incl. postage would be $20.00
    Email if interested and I'll double check to make sure it's the right one before we proceed. My old man worked in the ballistics lab at Winchester (New Haven) during WWII and I have a few parts hanging around.
