help installing sights

I am getting a new novak rear sight for my beretta vertec and I would like to try and install it myself. I was hoping someone here would have some pointers as how to do it without wrecking the sight or pistol.

  My humble opinion is that unless you are certain about the replacement, take it to a good gunsmith. You don't want to wreck you pistol
  
  Sometimes the replacement seems straight forward, but without the right tools and practice it can turn into a disaster. I have had enough of my own.
