Pre 64 Model 70 Winchester - what's it worth?

Mfg. 1958, 270 caliber. 95% condition but stock modified with recoil pad and cheekpiece removed. Stock rework was done well. Drilled and tapped (don't know if it originally came that way).

What would be a fair price to pay for such a piece? I would use it for hunting.

    Believe by that year the factory was d/t'ing the receivers for scope mounts. As long as the barreled action hasn't been modified, only the stock, you can still find original stocks for replacement (albeit expensive) and have a complete pre-'64. In the condition you describe, a little more than the average used shooter - say $400 - $500, depending on the region and what used guns are selling for in your area. The .270W chambering is as common as the everyday M70 in 30-06, therefore, no "rare" value.
