Metric gun screws?
Here's one for ya: Are the European metric gun screws a special size (like most US gun screws are)? Is there a place that will make special order screws at a reasonable price? I have a Schuetzen rifle that I just broke an action screw on, looks to have been hardened all the way through and looks like it was crystalized. Thanks for any info. Emery

Some European guns have special sized metric screws. I've seen some that were something odd like a 6mmx0.75 pitch and such. You'd probably have to have a slightly larger screw turned down and threaded if'n you can't find a replacement.

Ive had experience with sako actions and schultz & larsen actions and they do indeed have an array of metric gun screws that present a challenge to find. Its not easy but its possible. 0 -
Thanks for the responses, now I have to do some homework. You have told me what I need to know, even if it isn't what I wanted to hear. The screw in question is about 1-3/4" long and the metric equivalent of our 1/4-28 thread, about 24-25 threads per inch. Emery

mazo, that might be a 6mm screw, 1mm pitch. 6mm=.240 app.; 1mm pitch would give you 25.4 threads per inch.

Again, thanks to all. I'm gonna try to find a screw today. Might have to turn down a hex head but that's OK if it fits. Emery
