Bought S&W Model 41- - Questions

I recently bought a model 41 a a local gun show. I went to the show particularly for a 41. I only found two. I ended up buying one
ser # 96xxx. I'd like to know when it was made. I also got with the gun a .22 short conversion kit, that seems to have been used very little. I can't seem to find any info on the short kit, but have been told that is is fairly rare. Anybody have an estimate as to what the gun and conversion kit is worth? I would rate the gun at about 90% due to some small scratches on the barrel (5.5" heavy), and normal wear, and the kit at 98%. Thanks for any replies!!!!

    It hard to provide a specific date of manufacture for your 41, as all the early post W W II autos were numbered in the same serial number range, prior to 1970. As the highest serial number is 115000, my WAG would be middle to late 60's.

    The S & W book notes that the conversion kit is worth as much as the pistol. My WAG would be between $1000 - $1500, for both.

    Your gun was made in the late 1960's. It's probably a "no-dash" model with the loaded indicator; that feature usually brings a premium, but, in only 90% condition, that will have little effect on the value. I would think that it would sell in the $300-400 range.

    While a original complete gun in .22 short is quite rare, I've never seen a .22 short "conversion kit" packaged by S&W; if it had been, I would expect it to have come with weights. So, it's difficult to estimate what the top end/mag in that caliber would sell for. Anyone could have bought those parts separately at that time.

    Just found out that a 5" or 5 1/2" .22 short barrel, aluminum slide, and mag sold on E-bay for $800.00!!!!! It didn't even have the
    guide rod and recoil spring, or proper ejector/slide release with it!!!! I sure feel better about having $950 in the gun!!!
