Super Sniper scopes. Quality good or poor?
The Super Sniper scope was manufactured by Tasco about 10 years ago and since they've gone bankrupt. I've heard that SWFA bought the Super Sniper patent and sells them under the Super Sniper name. Some had bad luck with quality but I believe they bought the Hakko brand name thinking it was the same as the Super Sniper scopes.
Is today's Super Sniper as good or better quality as the Tasco of 10 years ago?

My plan is to use the SS10X42 for long distance shooting. 300 to 1000 yards on a 50 BMG.
Thanks in advance.

From what I've been able to gather, Tasco still makes Super Sniper Scopes...and they are only made for SWFA.

I have one of these that I bought 3-4 years ago, it has the side parallax adjustment, I have found it to be a good quality product and have had no problems with it, It appears to hold the zero and adjustments work fine. Optics are very good, 0 -
I beleive Tasco has been purchased by Bushnell. The Tasco Products are being produced under the (much better) quality control proceedures of Bushnell. The Super Sniper scope has a past with ups and downs. When it first was awarded the USN contract,.it was in it's height of performance and produced to very tight tolerances. later,..as the company ran into financial woes,..they began to falter and have more defects. Now that Bushnell has purchased them,,they have promised to have them back up to the original specs and level of performance. From what I understand,..all of the SWFA products are the Bushnell produced versions,..and should be as they are touted to be. If you are looking at a used version,..I would check the S.N. to find out when it was produced. if you are ordering new,..then no worries,..Bushnell has great customer service and makes great optics for the prices they request.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Thank you JustC. Your reply verifies the same as I've heard but I wasn't sure of the time periods of the up and down quality. I did not realize that Bushnell was now making the Super Sniper. Is the side parallax adjustment worth a $100 more? What name is on the SWFA scope? Tasco, Bushnell or Super Sniper? At what serial number did Bushnell take the product over?
Edit update: I found this on the web. "Tasco was purchased by Bushnell, and they are reportedly going to offer the old Tasco Super Sniper in the near future. To purchase any of these fine scopes, see the SWFA web site."
The scope comes in a plain white box and SWFA is marketing them as the brand "Super Sniper" although they are being built by Bushnell.0 -
Best source for the low down is to call Bushnell and ask at which SN they started producing,..they should be more than happy that you are wanting one of theirs and not one they did not produce.

Snipers Hide had an article on this scope. you may want to check it out. it was done by some guy who had used them in the service and compared them to the leuopolds the army or marines used. snipershide.com or something like that. try that with a search engine like google. 0 -
