S&W 1902 hand ejector expertise wanted

Several months ago I picked up a solid and tight 1902 HE in a trade. The gun is a 6" 38 special. While the gun is extremely solid and in good time, and even shoots well, the barrel has a slight bulge, and the gun has almost no finish. I have 4 .38's sitting in the safe right now. I'm thinking of making this a project gun. I'm considering 2 options. Option one, I'm very fond of 32/20wcf handguns but currently don't own any. Besides changing barrels and cylinders do I have to make any other considerations swapping over? Option #2, Recently during some hard times I had to trade off an early Colt detective special. I know there was a pre model 10 snubnose 38. What was the shortest barrel available for the 1902? How difficult are 2" barrels with the old style round sight to come by? I assume any K frame barrel will work.

Just wanting to make an average $100.00 gun into something special to me. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  It should require only a barrel and cylinder to convert to 32-20 but the parts must be fitted by a gunsmith.If the barrel has only a slight buldge it may shoot the way it is,
