cental arms 16 ga
i have a line on a central arms 16 ga he tells me its about 80 years old . and was just wondering if any one can help me out . with like where i can find out more info on it,like what its worth,how old is it ,stuff like that thanks for any help

The shotgun book, notes that Central Arms Co. was a "Trade Name" that was used by the Shapleigh Hardware Co. of St. Louis on shotguns they sold.
The shotguns were made by either Crescent or Stevens for Shapleigh. As Shapleigh went out of business during the Depression, the shotguns would be at least 75 years old.
It goes without saying, have a COMPETENT Gunsmith check out the gun and test fire it before you use it.

thanks rufe-snow . so every thing the old timer told me about the gun seems to be true. he told me that the gun was bought for him when he was a little kid by his father. i have seen the gun and is in like knew condition. how much do you think it would be offering him for this piece. thanks again 0 -
If the Gunsmith checks it out as being safe ( chamber depth is very important, some of the older guns MIGHT have been chambered for 2 9/16 shells ). Also it hasn't been refinished/reworked, to make it look new.
My WAG is that it would be worth between $150 & $250. If it was a 12 gauge it would be likely worth more, unfortunately 16 gauges don't have much of a following, and that affects the value.0
