Fox Shotgun

I have a Fox/Savge Arms 16 guage, double barrel, bead sight, plastic butt end ,with engraved receiver but not the band. It has the extractors but no ejectors and a 28 inch barrel. Serial number 3034**. It also has the beavertail forearm and it and the stock is checkered. I have no experience with these guns and hope someone can help me rate this and value it. The only flaws I can find are 2 minor spots where the blue is gone. Following is where pics can be seen of this gun. I need to know the grade too. Thank you for any help you may give.

    Nice gun .This is a high grade fox but I am surprised it does not have ejectors. what if any is the writeing on the barrels and side of action also on the water table this is front part of action that is hidden from view by barrels when it is closed?

    YOU GUN LOOKS AS IF THE STOCK HAS BEEN REFINISHED?? WHAT IS THE CHAMBER LENGTH 2&3/4 INCH 0R 2 &5/8 INCH SHELLS?? GREAT LOOKING GUN. HAVE YOU FIRED THIS GUN??

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    The stock has not been refinished. It has been fired a few times before but is in excellent shape. Rt. barrel has "Chromox Fluid Compressed steel" on it.

    How about writeing on the actions and any numbers or letters on water table

    Looking at photo xxx142, I observe that there is, in fact, varnish on the side of the receiver. That is a tell-tale sign of a home refinishing job, probably done before I was born. However, this is not difficult to remove, and many skilled gunsmiths can restore the finish and checkering to origional easily.
    Regardless, that is a beautiful piece, and I would be proud to have it myself.

    I do not find anything on water table. All other writing is just standard fare. On LEFT BARREL is Savage Arms etc., On lock is Aynsley Fox etc. on both sides. #2 is on underside of right barrel.Top of action is serial # and 16 guage. Beavertail is 2 3/8 in. wide. Under forearm on metal and wood is serial # and is aLSO UNDER BAND AT BREECH.

    Hello we are getting close to infomation needed . Your shotgun made between 1929 and WW 2 if it has the word SRERLINGWORTH it is one of 28,481 guns built in 16 Ga. if it has a letter a-f on the action watertable it is one of 3875 made look close it may have letter A-M

    Not to be contentious,but many old doubles came with factory varnish protecting their case colored recievers. It is fairly common to find them with the varnish partly worn off, partly still present so that it looks like it might have been wiped off a refinished stock onto the metal. 'Taint necessarily so!

    That looks like a deluxe Sterlingworth made by Savage after the original Fox company was acquired by them and moved to Utica, NY from Philadelphia. In any case, a nice gun.

    You need a real Fox expert. Besides the expertise on this site, try the fellas on doublegun.com ("The Doublegun BBS"), too.

    It doesn't get much better than a Fox Sterlingworth 16-bore, regardless of where it was built!

    Can anyone tell the grade of this? I guess what is water table is what I called top of action. It says 16 gauge and has an upper case A. The word safe is written under the safety. There is engraving on action/lock but not on barrels at the breech. Any place I can match serial numbers to find date of manufacture? Thanks to all so far.

    Hello if the SCROLE pattern on the side says STERLINGWORTH then it is either a standard or delux sterlingworth. How ever I think it is a "A' grade all other higher grade models were equiped with EJECTORS
