could you please let me know the value of s&w .38 special ctg.on the
6" barrel
l on it it says patented feb,06,06-sept, 14,09.dec.20,14. on thebottom of the handle it says 672032.

ON THE TRIGER IT SAYS REG.USPAT.OFF
on the bottom of the grip it has the numbers 672032 this is the only place i see these #s

You've given us some pretty sketchy info.
Please expand on your description and if at all possible post pix of the revolver. If you have the digital images, but not the means to post them, use the email icon at the top of this reply to contact me and I'll provide you with my email address so you can send your image files to me as standard email attachments and I will post them for you.
When you provide the additional info. tell us where the patent date info is (top of barrel, left side, right side). Look on the underneath side of the barrel and you should find a number there, and that number should match the number on the bottom of the grip frame. But if it doesn't you need to note that as well.
Forums are not like gun shops where you can walk in with your gun, get it examined, then identified, etc. Folks here are strictly limited by what we are told and by pictures. There are some very sharp folks here, but you have to help us to help you.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

Thanks for the additional info.
I forgot to mention that the cylinder needed to be open (swung out) to see the number in the area cutout under the barrel for the ejector rod.
Given the patent date and the S/N about the only thing the revolver can be is a 38 Military and Police Model of 1905 4th Change. And again using the S/N I'd approximate the mfg. date to be 1929-30.
Value wise, in top condition the revolver should bring $250-$300+
If you get some digital images I'd still recommend posting them just to make sure, and as I said in my original reply I'm happy to post them for you.

I OPENED THE CYENDER AND THE #672032 IS IN THE CUT-OUT AREA ON THE BARREL, IT IS ALSO ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE CYLENDER. STILL WORKING ON A PICTURE.

I agree that the gun does appear to be a .38 Hand Ejector-Model of 1905, 4th Change, but that serial number points to a somewhat later production date. It's more likely from about 1936 or '37. I'll back up that estimate with the fact that in 1935, S&W shipped 36 units of that same basic revolver (barrel length unknown) to the U.S. Secret Service, and those were in the 651500 range.
Fine old revolvers, and if in good condition, they're still quite shootable with standard velocity ammo.

Hey guys I have a question along the same lines. I believe I have a victory model s&w in .38s&w. ser#v5115xx.These #'s are on the cyl., grip bottom and behind ejector rod on the frame. The interesting thing about this particular gun is that on the left sideabove the grip there is a proof mark"sterreich polizei" arranged in a circle with an eagle in the middle. In the same manner as say the seal of the president of the united states.My gun is in good condition overall with the only real flaw being a little holster wear on the right and left sides of the muzzle. I am more tha happy to provide anyone with all the additional info. they might need to help me out with this so please e-mail away. Thanks in advance steve 0
