I just bought a brand new colt cobra off a guy for $400. The guns has never been shot, it is in immaculate shape it dosent have one scratch anyhwhere on it. It is a blued finish. It also came with the original box and papers, the box is a little beat up but thats the only downfall of the gun. Did I get a good deal on this gun? How much is it worth? The serial # is 74368r and the model # is d3425.

All Cobras are aluminum framed. It was made in 1959. Price sounds about right. Might shoot a few +P, but it will hurt frame if you do much of it. My first new pistol that I ever bought was a Cobra that I bought in 1965 and I still have it. They were $73.50 at that time.

The Cobra is a well-made and reliable firearm.....basically it's an aluminum framed Detective Special.

Yes, you can occasionally fire +Ps in it....but certainly not as a steady diet. Aluminum doesn't have the elasticity (or "memory", or "springyness") of steel, and continued use of +Ps can stretch the top strap of the revolver.
