Federal HI POWER Shot Shells

Can anyone here please tell me what these might be worth? My father passed away recently and these were found amoungst his things.

There are 10 boxes of 12 GA HI POWER Shot Shells made by Federal Cartridge Corp. Minneapolis, MN USA
On the box is HP127 EQUIV 3 3/4 DRS. 1 1/4 oz. #6

There is a green headed Mallard duck on the front of the box and states, Smokeless powder waterproof paper.

    Sounds like the box I have.
    I had it several years not knowing how old they were.Then one day I turned it over and looked at the bottom.In very fine print was(among a lot of other stuff)"Copyright 1927".I found a sight somewhere that showed the different styles of boxes that Federal used over the years and it fit in the 1927-32(or something like that) timeframe.I know this isn't answering your question,but I found it interesting that the gentleman that gave it to me sayed he had quit hunting and sold all his guns in 1957.I'll try to find that sight again.

    Good afternoon dancesalone, welcome to the forum: If the box is light blue with a 1/4 in. white border with the mallard in color, , (not the later brown box). These shells can go for $25-$60 a box under the "Collectable Ammo" section here at Gunbroker. It mostly depends on the condition of the box and shells. Go to the ammo section and bring up collectable ammo, then type in Federal, in the search block, then look at the shotgun shells for sale until you find one like your box, to identify your shells.     Hello, These are highly sought after boxes in the pricerange already mentioned. $25-60 unless something unusual about the box. They do sell well and many people want them for display.

    Old Ammo, have lots always looking for more.

    Thank you so much oldammo, Dave and BW. I've also got the original carton that they came in. There were 20 boxes to the case and I've got 10 boxes of shot shells. The boxes are in great shape, the orginal carton they came in has a water stain on it but otherwise is in pretty good condition. Would it be in my best interest to try and sell them together do you think, the 10 boxes of shells and the carton they came in? The boxes are as Dave has described and this afternoon I did find pics elsewhere on the net and they were priced at $50 each. Will go now and check out the info Dave suggested.

    Forgot to add to my last post that there is the copyright date on the box and it is 1927.

    dances: If you had all 20 boxes, you could try selling them all together, but since you only have half a case, but the original box they all came in you never know. You could try selling them here at auction with a reserve price. If they don't sell, then sell them as individuals. Also the box they came in is worth money too!!! If you sell them individually, also list the box they came in separately, that could be another $20-$60. Regards Dave

    As explained to me 30 or so years ago, the first two digits of the lot number were the year of manufacture, reversed; like 26xxxxx would have been loaded in 1962.
    Any body else hear this?

    Thanks Dave, been busy and not been back to reply. I think that I will list them here, with the orginal carton and the shells. When I get a minute here to do so. Thanks for all your help.

    OleDuk-interesting....the orginal carton has this info on the outside:
    Date of Manf. 10-3-52 and the lot number is this 2D25269. Which would make what you said true if it is the 2 numbers after the letter in reverse.
