If the rust spots are that small, I would just Rub them with a cloth saturated with a good gun oil (I use FP-10) and then rub with 4x steel wool. If you want to reblue the spots, B-Casey Perma-Blue works well. Just follow the directions explicitly. Good luck!

do not reblue it until you find out if it has any collectors value , depending on what it is it could be worth quite a bit and reblueing can and does kill the value real fast , for right now i would get some Blue Wonder gun cleaner , it will take the rust off and not harm the blueing, if you don't have any in your area you should be able to find someone on this site that sells it , , if you want to find out more about your rifle post another topic with details on it , guys like Bert H. and others will be able to help

gskyhawk has given you good advice. Post the details and we can give you dates of manufacture and some estimate of value. Do not reblue first! You can find a local or on-line dealer of Blue Wonder directely from their web site: http://www.bluewonder.us/

    Hello dsoelter...

Based on the serial number, 1941/42 is the correct DOM, and you have a Model 94 Carbine. To eliminate the rusty spots, simply apply some lightweight gun oil and very gently scrub the rust off with 0000 steel wool. Clean the area real well with fresh oil, and leave a very light coat on those spots. Do NOT reblue the barrel, or apply any of the various cold blue products, simply leave it as is.

I'm probably gonna get a ration for this but I use gun oil and fine
steel wool ,remove the rust and degrease. Then I apply varnish,it's not harmful to the firearm ,prevents rust and is easily removed for whatever reason. It may not be the most pc thing to do but it has worked for me more than once.
