"Nazi proofs" on Hi=power
I found a hi-power today in a pawn shop in probably 90% condition, I was looking at shotguns and it just caught my eye, the lady behind the counter asked me if I wanted to take a closer look at the "gun" and I said sure. When I looked at it, I noticed that it had a whole bunch of stuff written on it that my newer high-powers don't and on the right side of the slide it had the nazi proofs on it Swastika and little bird. It had the same proof marking on the right side of the gun above the trigger guard I believe. The markings were very small is this a rip-off of the real deal, what else should I look for in the gun to prove if it is a real "nazi" hi-power or not. The first four digits of the serial number were 1764, I forgot the remaining digits but I'm positive 1764 was the begining four digits.
The gun is $500.00 and really is in about 90% condition, what would you guys guess it to be worth? I'll buy it in hopes of trading it for something else at a gunshow down the road or maybe I'll keep it and just have another hi-power.
It's at least as nice as this one here on GB.

The gun is $500.00 and really is in about 90% condition, what would you guys guess it to be worth? I'll buy it in hopes of trading it for something else at a gunshow down the road or maybe I'll keep it and just have another hi-power.

My reference notes that over 300,000 were made for the Germans while they were occupying Belgium. The ones made during the last year, ( 1944 ) were rough with a poor finish.
Lot of them were dip blued after the war by the GI's, to make them look better. Make sure the one your looking at in the pawnshop hasn't been screwed with.0 -

Add 15% for WaA103
Type III: Standard Fixed Sights....most common produced.

Add 15% for late war Bakelite/synthetic grips

Next time you drop by, I'll show you a Nazi type III in the showcase. While not an obscene price, around here they usually go a little cheaper.

P3- Thanks and my mistake all markings were on the left side of the gun, just a typo up there. I think I may just buy it just to have something a little different. Oh yeah P3- I forgot you were closed on Mondays, sorry for calling you.
