Youth turkey gun
Looking for gun for 12 year old for his first turkey hunt this spring. Any advice regarding gauge, action, load is appreciated. As he is a new shooter, the 3 1/2 inch magnums are likely out

If I were you i would get your youngster a either a single shot 20 gauge or a pump 20 gauge to start out turkey season with as when i was a young boy that is what i started out with or even a .410 if it is allowed in your state--John(phatboy438@msn.com) I carry alot of knives as well if you are looking to get him his first hunting knife as well i have a few priced very affordable around $10-$20.00 and he/she will also get an extra knife for guting out his big game also email me if i can help you out any more and GOOD Luck to your new hunter!! I am always proud to see another youth in the field with mom or dad hunting for the first time way to go!!

also you can get and i would reccomend you get the 2 1/2" shells as like you feel the 3 1/2" magnums are going to be way to much and actually may discourage him or her from hunting again as they will likely hurt their shooting shoulder but i wish you alot of Luck as a father myself i cannot wait till my son and daughter are of age to hunt as they shoot regularly with me at the range already atleast my 10 year old does and is becoming an excellent shot she is even better than dad with her .22 on some days take care and again good luck also the .410 if it is allowed in your state would be a nice easy gun for the youngster to handle, best regards-John
