Star BM disassembly

Picked up a couple of Star BM's and am unable to push the recoil spring plug in to swing the barrel bushing out of the way to disassemble. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Remove slide from frame first by locking it open with thumb safety.
  
  Then remove slide stop.
  
  When slide and frame are separated, recoil spring assembly can be removed. Barrel bushing is then turned counterclockwise amd removed from slide.
