7.62 nagant interchange with 32 long "ammo"
I was talking to a man tonight who owns a couple of the old nagant revolvers in 7.62.I made a remark about how expensive the ammo was for such an inexpensive gun.he told me all he has ever shot in his is 32 long and it works great.I know you can buy a 32auto cylinder for these so I guess the 32 part will work.has anyone here ever shot 32 long in one,

Yes.. I routinely shoot both 32 S&W and 32 S&W Long cartridges in my Nagant revolvers. In one, the cases split about 50% of the time. In the other two, no problems at all except that the cases show a pronounced bulge as all Nagant chambers are larger than the 32 ammo. If you choose to do this be sure to wear safety glasses. Magtech 32 S&W long ammo with the wadcutter bullets gives excellent accuracy. I have also fired 32-20 ammo in mine but first I had to seat the bullets slightly deeper to work. I then reload the 32-20 brass using special Nagant dies from Lee for a perfect fit and performance.

I have loaded some from the 32-20 brass; they are a bit short so you don't get the "gas seal" effect the revolver is designed for. I recently got some Fiocchi ammo at a good price and that is the correct length. Emery

I have 2 Nagants. I tried using 32-20 brass and found the rim too thick for both of mine. I started using 32 H&R Magnum brass loaded with 32-20 dies and 110 gr .308" dia M1 carbine bullets. It has the same rim thickness as 32 S&W. I have also loaded 71 gr 32acp bullet in a 32 S&W long case. I prefer the 110 gr bullet as it is close to the origonal 108 gr bullet. 0 -
Yes, I use the 32 S&W long HBWC reloads for target shooting in my 3 Nagant revolvers. Haven't had any problems, but the case bulges slightly in the forward half inch. 0 -

you can buy the correct, reloadable, target grade russian production ammo in 40 round boxes for $24.99.
we stock the russian amm, the FIOCCHI ammo, bell brass cases, and a small quantity of the original copper cases ammo.
we have the correct dies, both lead and jacketed bullets, and have already done a few hundred reloads.
its always better to shoot the correct cartridge out of a vintage gun. much safer too...
there are .32 acp cylinders available, and a .32-20 wcf cylinder under development.
