Bobby - thanks for the links. My Zulu is very similar to both auction items you posted except it is in much better shape. No broken/repaired hammers and the wood much nicer. Thanks for taking the trouble to post those.

I'll be watching the auctions.

    No problem.I just hope I wind up w/Mom's old Zulu some day.

    A little more on that "Zulu".
    I was surprised to see the identifying word "Tabatiere" used in that one ad,....That is what they actually were made from,..."Tabatiere" muskets, of which there were, at least, 4 different configurations.
    These were, in turn, cartridge, breech loading conversions from earlier muzzle loaders. Since I collect these things, (early, cartridge firing breech loaders) I am lucky to have two different models of the Tabatiere.
    Now it is in another change,...so, you can see this is one arm that got its usefulness. These were always considered suicidal to use, because, for one thing, look at the breech....with the side swinging closure piece flung open,...it is a clear open trench back to your face.
    We used to see these quite a bit in the old days, valued at no more than 75.00,....now, inflation is set in, I guess.
    I was surprised, also to hear that the word "ZULU" was stamped on them. I have never seen that on those I'd run across.
    A classical example of a much utilized weapon.
