rifled slugs in a rifled barrel

Good evening all,
I have a Rem 870 with a 20" rifled slug barrel. I want to know if I can use rifled slugs or should stick with sabots. I appreciate any advice. Thank you,

    the lead rifled slugs are made to be used in a smooth bore , thats not to say that you can't used them in a rifled barrel just not recommended, usually you will get your best accuracy by sticking to the sabots slugs , try some of the cheaper sabot , i've found that there is not that much difference in how they shoot from the higher priced ones

    Brenneke makes some slugs that are supposed to work in either. I don't think it would hurt to shoot the regular slugs in a rifled barrel but they might lead it up some. I've had really good luck with Lightfield Brand sabot slugs-Lots of power, very accurate and one of the least expensive-about 6 or 7 bucks a box.

    I can't see any negative effect from shooting rifled slugs in rifled barrels - and I've done it quite a bit. I do hunt with a sabot round but most of my practicing is done with the cheaper rifled slugs. I really can't detect leading in my barrels or any drop off in accuracy switching back & forth.

    Of course the manufactures wouldn't recommend it - they'd much rather sell the expensive slugs than the cheap ones. If you're confident that your shots will be 75 yards or under, I'd probably try out a bunch of different brand rifled slugs & use the one that shoots best out of your gun. I haven't found any rifled slug that will group well for me beyond 80 yards or so. I'm not confident that my shots will be under 75-80 yards - so I use a sabot.

    Gunfunco - which lightfield slug load is that cheap? I must have missed that one - all the lightfields I've seen were as pricy as the rest.

    You won't have any problems using lead slugs out of your rifled barrel. I can only hunt deer with shotguns and I use sabots and regular slugs with no problem.

    i boar hunt with a slug gun (using sabots) i have yet to see a big difference in slugs except for the price. as far as shooting slugs or sabots thru rifled barrels i have a mossberg 695 bolt action 12ga slug gun i havent had any leading problem in it i usually practice with slugs and hunt with sabots
