The Taurus line of revolvers has gotten alot better over the years so to answer your question yes Taurus is a good gun.I'd get a little longer barrel if it was me.What do you plan on doing with it plinking or personal protection?

i would not own a .22 revolver with under a 6in barrell unless it needed to be concealed.

Taurus does make very fine pistols.

    Rainy,
I've been impressed with the newer Taurus revolvers as already mentionned. I also understand they have a good track record for service; not uncommon in the gun trade, though not to be taken for granted.

I bought their 17hmr 12" revolver a few months ago. Nice machining and shoots well although my buds say that with that barrel I'm half way to the target before I fire!

S&W 617s are good guns and worth the money. If you can find a clean S&W 17, go for it--they are the older blue gun.
Diamondbacks are just plain expensive. Collectors have pretty much made this gun out of reach for shooters who aren't well-heeled.
