Weatherby/Rings and Bases

What kind of rings and bases are compatable with the Weatherby Mark V action. I have a new 338-378 and want to mount a Nikon scope.

    yep,..the rem 700 mounts will fit. There is a slight difference in the "drop" of the rear portion of the MK V action compared to the rem 700. To avoid any problems reguarding elevation adjustments (if your scope has limited internal adjustment range) then using the 1 peice base with 10moa or 20moa built in will help with that.

    I received this info directly from the base manufacturers. Leupold will tell you the new ones with a different part number are the only way to go,..but nightforce and Ken Farrel disagree. I tend to beleive these 2 companies first,..no offense to leupy of course.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    My 340 Weatherby wears Weaver bases and 4x4 rings. I tried Leupold and Redfield but neither held up as well to recoil as this combo. Have fun.

    Ballistics: this rifle shoots 210 Barnes bullets at 3200 FPS!

    210gr at 3200fps is pretty good MV!! My 216gr clinch river pills are coming out of my 300RUM 30" tube at just shy of 3200fps[:0] and I havn't chrono'd my 338RUM yet (had it put together on a MK V action) but I am betting she is pushing the 200's and 225's at around 3200fps also. Gotta love the big boomers[8D][:p]

    P.S. the classiest and best looking set-up for the MK V is the Talley rings which are made for it. The wthby rings say right on the box "made by Talley mfg". They look really nice and are super strong.
