Model 70 Winchester

I have a late model 70 Winchester that I am trying to find out what production year it is. Can't seem to find anything after the 90's. My serial number is G 303897 a featherweight 7mm08. I was told some of the later model 70's had a change in the bolt design that was a improvement over what they had been using and I am trying to find out if the year model I have would have included the newer bolt.

    What can you tell us about a Winchester, Model 70 in 220 Swift serial number 7xx. I know with out a picture its hard to tell value, the condition is about 90%. I would appricate any other info someone would want to throw in.

    Its either a youth model or standard action more than likely a standard action. I would buy it for 250.00. How old I think early 80's.

    The model 70 Ranger was made some years back. It was a plain hardwood stocked inexpensive version of the model 70. they werent finished as nice as the regular model. made to be price competitive. A lot of them were made during a period that their quality control was poor.If it is in good shape as you say ,and you like it ,it it is probably worth $250 at most. It should make good basic hunting rifle.

    I BELIEVE THE RANGER MODELS WERE OFFERED WITH OR WITHOUT MAGAZINE FLOORPLATES . UNLOADING THE MAG. BY WORKING THE BOLT IS A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ^*# . A NO FRILLS HUNTING RIFLE THAT YOU WON'T WORRY ABOUT BEATING THE BRUSH DOWN ,BOUNCING ON A ATV, OR HAVING TO BABY FOR FEAR OF SCRACTHING OR DINGING IT SOMEHOW. 250 IS NOT BAD FOR A BASIC HUNTING RIFLE IF YOU ARE IN THE NEED . IF YOUR BARGAIN HUNTING 200 IS A BARGAIN PRICE FOR A RANGER IF YOUR MORE OR LESS BARGAIN BUYING .

    the action is suitable for a custom build-up,..and worth $250 just for that purpose. (almost everything for the standard mod70 will work with it). for a plain jane hunting gun,..it should serve to be a good "beater" as it has no collectors value. I had a model 670 (close to the same gun) and although it was a cheaper version,..it would go 1/2" with the right operator. Check to see that the barrel is properly floated and you shouldn't have to do any work to it to get it at 1moa or better with quality ammunition.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
