Colt official Police

Any idea of when my ex-police officer gun was made? It is a Colt Official Police .38spc. The serial # 871004 and it wears a 4 inch barrel. You guys have been so helpful in the past I just had to find out this info because I love the gun. Thanks in advance

  Can anyone out there get me into the ball park as to how old this gun is? Its got a 5" barrel and serial Number 7007XX. Any help would be appreciated.

  My colt ref indicates it was made about the end of 1943.

  You are a big help. Thank you very much. The pistol was an heirloom from a friend's grandfather who used to be a policeman years ago.
