    The Butcher,

Several Long Range Accuracy gunsmiths make custom cantilevered mounts that might be designed to work with a Unertl. I would expect the cost to be relatively high. You could have the barrel taken off and set back to line up the flutes then cut a freshened chamber which might be less expensive than the mount. Just a thought.

    nononsense,
My VSSF, is a .220 swift, and to be 100% honest, it is the best out of the box factory rifle I own. 1t shoots 3/8's on a bad day, with most groups smaller than that. I just love Unertl glass, and would love to put one on the swift. I once told my father-N-law, "there is no way that that old Unertl is as accurate and repeatable as this Leupold 24X target. Todays technology and machining, is much better than it was fifty years ago." Boy was I wrong. I now own 3 Unertl's, and have really never seen any better glass, at any price. As long as you keep them clean, put the covers back on, and a little love and care, they will last a lifetime and have proven more repeatable than any other scope I own. I must admit, when I go groundhog hunting, I take two guns. One with a Unertl on it if it is dry out, and another with a Leupold on it if looks like rain. First drop, and the Unertl goes back in the guncase. Anyway, Not touching the swifts barrel. Thanks for your input though. Don

Well then, it seems like you're stuck with the idea of a custom mount. You could talk to Unertl but I haven't seen anything like you need. As I said in the first post, you should contact one of the many custom gunsmiths that work with long range rifles and the mounts designed for them. Or you can contact Ken Farrel who is a designer/manufacturer of scope mounts.
