Bipod?, Tripod?, sighting assistance??

I'm going to do some 22-250 shooting out on the open plain and do not know what is available for resting or supporting the rifle while firing, What should I be looking for and where?? I'll be sitting, standing, kneeling, you name it.

    Harris makes some great bipods. They range in hiegt and are adjustable. Another good idea is a pair of good shooting sticks. I've made a pair. They can be used with a shorter bipod if you fold the legs forward. Use the bipod When in the supported or prone position and the sticks for kneeling and standing, thats what I do.     Hey Fez welcome to the Gunbroker forum. I shoot a 22/250 extensively and as you said "out on the open plain". Some people are real fond of "shooting sticks" of various types but they never caught on with me. Through the years of shooting I've determined for me the best position for me to shoot from is sitting with a Harris bi-pod. I bought the tallest one that I could buy at the time and it works awesome for sitting or knealing and shooting. If need be just fold it down for prone shots. Have fun!

    Do yourself two favors, buy a Harris bipod and then mount it on a 6mm[;)] Both work wonderfully.

    Hey fez, I would recommend the Harris,It works great on my 700. However if price is a concern you can pick up an Outers for almost half the price.Its very similar in design.

    Also, a very nice extra when using a bi-pod in the front is to use a mono-pod called an Accu-shot in the rear. They really help a lot sighting in a rifle and work well for stuff like prairie dogs, but don't help much hunting more mobile quarry like 'yotes or deer.

    Buy the Harris (with the swivel head). If you buy the stationary or fixed head you'll be disappointed. The swivel allows you to level the horizontal cross hairs on your scope without re-adjusting the legs on the bi-pod. You'll also be buying a larger gun case to sleeve your gun with the bi-pod attached. Harris makes a real quality product. Harris makes several lengths make sure you get one tall enough that you can sit and shoot comfortably. I also use their short 6" to 8" version that is great for shooting off a truck hood.
    Can't beat them for long distance prairie dog shooting.
