Springfield Armory XD9 models....need help!

Is there any MAJOR difference, other than aesthetics, between the XD9801 (3" subcompact, black) and the XD9821 (3" subcompact, two-tone) ??!??!

I am looking to buy in the next couple of days, and your expert opinion counts!

    if by 2 tone, you mean stainless slide, i think thats the only difference. also, i have heard nothing but good things about these and am considering an xd40 or 357 myself

    I ended up purchasing the XD9821 (stainless) because there were a number of magazine reviews on these guns, and the only flaw with the original 3" subcompact (XD9801, black) was the wear on the finish. Subsequent reviews praise the addition of the two-tone (stainless slide) for it's improved finish durability.

    After researching different sites, and comparing prices on-line, I was able to make a deal with a local gunshop to get the XD9821 for $399.

    More once I fire the pistol (??this weekend??)

    That is a very good price and a very good gun I have and XD9 SS service model and I polish the gun and looks awsome!!!

    I bought one of the XD-9's when they first came out on the market, and it is by far the best 9mm that I have ever owned. And right now, I have no less than four 9's in my arsenal. The XD-9 is the sweetest shooting pistol I have ever shot, and it is extremely reliable! I took it thru a defensive pistol class where we shot about six hundred rounds, in one day, and it never hiccupped at all. Out of about fifty other shooters, my XD was one of three that never broke down, jammed, or misfired.
    I love it!!!
