Screw-in shotgun chokes

Are there any real advantages between the different styles of screw in chokes? There seems to be a wide world of choices.
I had a Lightweight Rem 1100-20 Gauge threaded to take flush type, thin wall Colonial chokes that seems to work ok except extended knurled chokes would be a little more convenient at the range.
Now I'm considering doing the same with a fixed choke Beretta o/u
light weight 20 gauge. I'd be stuck with thin wall chokes again as the barrels are at minimum O.D.
Any professional advice?

    flush types tend to fill with wad crud with time. cleaning has always been a problem. at least with the knurled, the crud wont get in any wrench grooves. winchester used the idea of knurled type on its early winchoke design with an external spanner wrench, only to have complaints with the spanner holes getting ruined. its a tuff business to be in!

    Thanks, Bobski. How about long vs short tubes? I see thin wall types are also offered in long tubes. Any real advantage in patterning between long and short?

    I've haerd both sides on tube length. I think that by having your constriction over a greater length, it should give a tighter pattern. All the old fixed full goose guns seem to provide a more dense pattern than the screw-in fulls. However, because of the minimal additional length between flush and extended chokes, I would think it's mostly ease of change, etc., particularly in the more open chokes. If you wanted a super full turkey or a rifled choke, then I'd recommend the extra length. For the range, they should perform about the same. If you do get extended, try to get some that you can take out with a wrench. I learned from experience that you can't let chokes cool enough to remove after a full round or two of targets [B)]

    longer tubes offer more thread to secure the tube; but, it involves more bbl bore surface. if there is a thin spot, it will effect the installation. im an old school guy. short tubes, jam em in, go shoot! [:D]
