Gun finish

A friend of mine just showed me an LC Smith that he took to a supposed gunsmith. He had to have a spring put in but when he got the gun back the supposed gunsmith had sprayed something on and and said he had to bake it. Needless to say the ribs came loose. Does anyone know what he may have sprayed and how to remove it. This produce was supposed to have been purchased from some gun products supplier.

    Thanks

roberte: The ribs came loose because he got it to dame hot!! while "baking", it melted the silver solder or braze. Tell your friend to take it back and have the "gunsmith" fix it, or send it out for repair to someone who knows what he/she is doing!! If he refuses, then take him to small claims court. Regards Dave

He wasn't a very good gunsmith if he 'baked' a double barrel...he needs to re-solder the barrels and if he can't he dang well needs to pay to have it done.

A friend will post your bail. A good friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying, "man that was fun!"
