Actually the basic frame size (cylinder size) was that of the S&W K frame, but you'll find that the grip size and shape is significantly different from the S&W K frame series of revolvers. Hence interchangability will not be practical, especially with the open back strap and specific fit needed for a Hogue grip to work properly. You'd have better luck adapting a Pachmayr grip that enclosed the whole frame (gripper or presentation series) and did fill-in as necessary to adapt the grip to work.

With the Hogue design having an open back and exact fit from the grip being drawn up by the screw at the bottom, you'll find that adaptation will be next to impossible. The basic styling of the Rossi may LOOK somewhat like a S&W, but the actual hammer main spring system and physical grip shape and design are quite different.
