Mauser Question

I've had an old Mauser for some time. It's a Model 1909 Argentino and I believe it to be unfired. It's definetly mint with all matching serial numbers. I always had the intention of having it made into a sport rifle but I guess I no longer see the need. I suspect it would be fun to shoot. If so, does anybody know what ammo would be correct? Then, should I shoot it or keep it unfired?

    In looking for a mount for my Czech/98 Mauser - Midway lists two different mounts one for a Mauser 98 and one for a Mauser 98 FN. What is the difference between these two models?

    From your description it seems that you have a Model 1894, Swedish Military Carbine. It uses the standard Swede Military Cartridge, 6.5 x 55mm.

    It has the bent bolt handle, but is dated much later--1929.
    It also has the infantry tag. "I27 NO.683".

    Last I checked samcoglobal.com sold Swede military surplus. This is non corrosive ammo and is very accurate.
    I bought some green battle sleeves from them two years ago, 200 shots per sleeve.
    They sell bayonets for the Swede Mauser, not sure if they fit the carbine but they are cool bayonets.

    Sportmans Guide has some of the better on-line deals on 6.5 x 55mm ammo.

    They still have the original Swede Military ammo in stock. Most of the other dealers are out of it.

    They also sell FNM & PMC commerical ammo, at a very good price. Some folks prefer this stuff as it Boxer primed and reloadable, whereas the Swede Military is Berdan and a pita to reload.

    I don't know much how it being a "School Carbine" will affect the value" But it being a Carbine with such a late date and how the receiver is one number off from the bolt and other parts makes it very unique. My 2 cents is that there would be a lot of collector demand/value in it.

    I'm not sure if it's for the same gun, but poke around on www.sportsmansguide.com for bayonets. They had various swedish, ect. but you'll have to determine which it is as I wouldn't have clue.

    THE SWEDE CARBINE TAKES ITS OUN BAYONET (M-96,96/38,38 WILL NOT FIT) THE ONLY PLACE THAT HAS HAD THEM RECENTLY HAS A MULTI PAGE AD. IN THE GUN LIST (I DON'T RECALL THE NAME, THEY ADVERTISE ALL KINDS OF BAYONETS, FLAGS, & WEB GEAR), LAST PRICE I NOTICED WAS ABOUT $70.
