M44 Bayonet lug removal any suggestions?

    Mine was real easy to take off. The O-shaped part that goes over the barrel moves with a spring under it (have to push down on it to unlock and fold the bayonet). Anyhow, if you push down on it like you were going to fold it up there should be only one screw to take out. Once you've removed it the thing just comes right off. Good Luck.

    Thanks DBV, I rewrote the title and beginning of the sentence to be more clear. My daughter is sporterizing this rifle and wants the lug off and a pseudo brake in it's place.

    Numrich also has a AK74 style brake that might cut the recoil a bit more
