PACT Model 1; Weird readings
Since PACT is closed Fridays at noon, I thought I'd see if anyone else has had weirdness coming from their chrono's.
While trying to chrono some loads for a friend (20gr Blue Dot, 300gr JHP, 44mag); my model 1 started kicking out velocities in the 6,000fps range. I turned it off, then on, and it showed 667fps for the next shot, 669fps for the following 2 shots, and finally a 705fps.
We calc'ed as though it were showing meters/second, and it approximated what my buddy had figured the rounds were going.
Next tried some yellow jackets out of a TP22; got 1450fps and then it showed 488 for the next few rounds.
Did I somehow inadvertantly switch from fps to meters?
Can I reverse it?
We set it 12' from the bench, made triply sure that the start and stop plugs were in the right holes, it was/is a blue sky sunny day, tried with skyscreens and without, moved the chrono 90 degrees so the sun was in a different place, swapped fresh batteries twice; in short, I think it might need a tune-up.
Anyone? Bueller?

Sounds like you're right. You did all the things that could normally cause it to malfunction. If it keeps tripping from feet to meters and back again, the factory will have to correct it.
Might check the sensors to make sure there's nothing laying on them or obstructing them (dust, lint, trash, etc.).
