Chamber pressure /hammer gun
I've got (presumably) Belgium 16ga. under lever double barrel hammer gun. I've had it tightened up by a machinist so it closes tight, no give, no wobble. it fires the empty case with primer ok. Can this gun sustain 1& 1/8 oz. Win. super x loads in 4 shot? I would presume it was made in the 1890's. It's called a Haj Geet.

Hello big ??? is it steel barrels or damascus barrels you best bet is have a "GUNSMITH" look at it a machineist is find for the repairs but a gunsmith would be only one to tell about gun . Anyone would be a fool to advise you without seeing gun . Most belgium gun were not great. 0 -
Yep, them's steel barrels. I did have a guknsmith look at it and he said try a shell without the shot first. That didn't sound like the most knowledgable advice around so I thought I would give this avenue a go. I was under the impression that it wouldn't be a good idea at all to use modern shells in them. I thought I read something about using only the paper shells of yesteryear. Thanks. 0 -
If a gunsmith says it's safe to shoot, use paper shells and black power. I can't tell you the reecipe for the shell, but someone else probably can. 0
